Friday Features – Week of October 19th

One week closer to Halloween, and all of the upcoming holidays! This week has seemed to drag on, anyone else? But, at least it’s Friday, and I’m ready for this weekend and some Alabama Football (Roll Tide)! So, here’s another week of Friday Features for ya morning!

1. How Smart Is Your Dog?

You’ve probably realized that I’m a crazy dog lady by now. Learning more about dogs and breeds is super interesting to me. When I came across an article ranking dogs based on their intelligence, I had to see where my dog placed. The breeds are ranked by the dog’s “ability to understand and obey first commands.” My dog, Dobby, is a German Shorthaired Pointer mix, but I’ve noticed he picks up new commands extremely quickly! So, I wasn’t too surprised to see that German Shorthaired Pointers ranked #17 on their list. Basically, this means that they require only 5-15 repetitions to learn a new trick or command. And, they will obey the first command at least 85% of the time according to the study. Click HERE to find out where your dog ranks!

2. Zayn Releases New Single “Fingers”

Once upon a time there was a boy band named One Direction…sound familiar? LOL I was always a huge fan of them and their songs were so catchy. But like most bands, they split up and are currently doing their solo work. However, I’ve found that I only really like 2 of the 5 members’ solo music. Those two are Harry Styles and Zayn Malik. I have loved every single song that Zayn has released since his departure from One Direction. They’re a mix of R&B/Hip-Hop/Pop, and they’re always a bit different from the other music on the radio currently. This week he released his new single, Fingers, and it’s no different. I love it, and it will be on repeat for a while.

3. Coca-Cola Announces New Products at the NACS Show

The NACS (National Association of Convenience Stores) is an event that shows brands’ new and upcoming products for convenience retail. At this show, Coca-Cola showed six new products: the Dunkin’ Donuts Shot in the Dark Coffee and Espresso Blend, Minute Maid Tomato Juice, SmartWater alkaline and SmartWater Antioxidant, Simply Smoothies, Zico Coco-Lixirs, and Barrilitos.

The two I’m most excited for are the Zico Coco-Lixirs and Barrilitos. The Zico Coco-Lixirs is a mix of coconut water and cold-pressed juice and will come in three flavors: For Lemon’s Sake, Unbe-leaf-able, and Turn Up The Beet. However, the Barrilitos are what really caught my attention. The Barrilitos will be a line of Aguas Frescas (fresh waters). There will be 7 flavors of this product and I’m so excited they’re coming out with a Tamarind flavor (I’ve recently discovery I love this). The other flavors are Pineapple, Strawberry Hibiscus, Mango Lime, Pear Cucumber, Watermelon, and Horchata. You can read the full article HERE!

4. Chrissy Teigen and BECCA Make-Up Collaboration

Chrissy Teigen has been releasing one thing after another recently, and I want EVERYTHING! This week it was announced she and BECCA will be releasing a new collaboration based on one of my favorite things…Sweets and Desserts. The collection is called Chrissy Cravings, and will include a Lip Kit and Glow Kit Palette. In the lip kit there will be four shades called: Crème Brûlée, Cinnamon Bun, Sugar Plum, and  Candy Cane. I love the Crème Brûlée color (light, sheer pink)…or that could just be my love for the dessert. The glow kit will include an eyeshadow (Cinnamon Churro), highlighter (Cinnamon Churro), lip soufflé (Red Velvet), and glow powder (Cinnamon Sugar). I’m all about that highlighter because who doesn’t want “the glow up” for all of those holiday pictures?! The collection is available to shop on Sephora and Becca websites starting tomorrow, October 20th!
