Weekend Adventures at Ichetucknee Springs + GIVEAWAY

A Quick Day Trip to Ichetucknee Springs – One of Florida’s Popular Natural Springs
While most people know Florida for its beautiful beaches, many of the locals like to venture out to Florida’s Natural Springs during the Summer. Florida has many natural springs throughout the state especially in the North/Central Area. One of the more popular being Ichetucknee Springs. When you think of springs, think of bright, crystal clear blue waters….with a temperature of around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Personally, it’s a little cold for my taste. I hate cold anything. I’m that annoying person that keeps the A/C on 76-78 degrees during the summer with a hot coffee in hand.
Known for its 6 mile long lazy river, Ichetucknee is a great place to cool off in the Florida heat. Forewarning, this place gets packed quick. The park and lazy river open up at 8AM, so if you want to do the 6 mile (takes about 6 hours) loop, then you should be there at that time (750 people occupancy). We arrived at 9:30AM, and they said they met capacity on the long loop when they opened. So, instead, we took the 2 hour version, and then went to the North End to see the main springs.
Also, you don’t need to bring any tubes or floats (unless you want to). You can rent single tubes, double tubes, or rafts. The single tubes come in different varieties pricing from $5 to $10. Personally, I chose the Pro Tube with the Bottom (I wanted as little water to get on me as possible) for $7, but you can get bottomless and netted tubes as well. The double seat tubes are $10 (basic vinyl) and $20 (netted with back rest). And, the rafts range from $13 to $20 depending on the size (paddle included). For the short lazy river, I loved using the tube, but if I did the longer version, I would want to use a raft or kayak.
I couldn’t take pictures of the lazy river because I wasn’t going to dare dropping my phone in the water. But, I was able to snap a pic of the beautiful spring!
The park is open until sundown every day of the year. However, the lazy river is only open at certain times. You can take the short loop anytime of the year, but the longer version is only open from Memorial Day until Labor Day. Also, it costs $6 to enter the park, and they take card and cash.
