Beauty Buys & Skincare Haul – The 4 Skin Care Brands To Try
June 19, 2018
Between the Sephora VIB sale and traveling to South Korea, I’ve picked up quite a few different skin care products recently. So, I though a beauty & skin care haul would be a great idea to keep track. There are four brands I’ve wanted to try for a while but never have because I don’t like paying a ton of money for a full size product when I’m not sure how my skin will react to it. So, when brands have a “collection” of travel size products, I’m much more willing to buy those so I can test them first. If you’ve tried any of these, let me know in the comments below and how you liked them!
1. Etude House’s SoonJung Collection
Etude House is a very popular Korean Beauty brand that have had celebrities such as Red Velvet, SHINee, Krystal, Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye, and 2NE1 model their products. SoonJung is their skin care line catered towards those with sensitive skin (me!). The line is formulated with a low pH (5.5-6.5) and contains panthenol (related to Vitamin B5) and madecassoside (comes from Centella asiatica). These two ingredients provide moisture, hydration, and repairs skin damage. It’s also created without added fragrances and artificial color, and contains no parabens (preservatives). This line is basically a dream come true for sensitive and acne-prone skin. While I was in Korea, I visited the Etude House in Myeongdong where they were having a sale on SoonJung products. A 5-piece set of products was on sale for ₩20,000 (~$18), so how could I not buy that?! This SoonJung set includes:
pH 5.5 Relief Toner (180 mL/6 oz)
pH 5.5 Relief Toner (Travel Friendly Size)
10 Free Moist Emulsion (120 mL/4 oz)
10 Free Moist Emulsion (Travel Friendly Size)
2x Barrier Intensive Cream
I also decided to buy the SoonJung pH 6.5 Whip Cleanser ($10) to go along with the set. I’ve tried some Etude House beauty products (nail polish, eye shadow, lipstick) and love them, so I have been really anxious to try their skin care as well.
I have put off trying Drunk Elephant mostly because they’re wayyyy too expensive for my budget (especially for the amount you get). But during the Sephora VIB sale, I bought a couple of the “mini” size products to try out. I’ve tried one so far (the C-Firma Day Serum), and honestly, I have not been impressed at all. I’m going to try the rest of them, but right now, my hopes are pretty low. I bought the Rise + Glow Duo which contains the B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel (0.27 oz/ 8 mL) and C-Firma Day Serum (0.27 oz/ 8 mL) as well as the Hit It Off Duo with Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser (1 oz/30 mL) and Lala Retro Whipped Cream (0.5 oz/ 15 mL).
I love that Sephora carries Laneige products, especially the Hydrating and Pore trial kits. I’ve tried the Hydrating trial kit before (review HERE) and wanted to try the pore care products. These Laneige products help minimize the look of pores and give a clear complexion and is only $25. The Pore Care Trial Kit contains:
Multi Cleanser (1 oz/30 mL)
Mini Pore Waterclay Mask (0.5 oz/15 mL)
Essential Power Skin Toner for Combination to Oily Skin (1.6 oz/50 mL)
Belif is the brand I was most excited to try by far. Their products are dermatologist/clinically tested and formulated without any fragrances, mineral oils, preservatives, dyes, and ingredients from animals. How could it be any better?! It’s such a “clean” skin care brand that utilizes natural herbs for their products. I bought this kit from Sephora for my trip to Korea (who wants to pack full size everything?!), and it was perfect for using in-flight and throughout my stay. The Moisturizing Eye Bomb and the True Cream Aqua Bomb have been standouts to me so far and I think the eye cream is going to be a main-stay in my routine. This awesome travel kit runs $20 and includes:
