Friday Features Week 8 – Extreme Fangirling

It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve had a Friday Features due to traveling. But, now I’m back with a new Friday Features for ya! And warning…there is some K-Pop fangirling.

Feature 1:  Music Release – BTS Album “Love Yourself: Tear” and Music Video

If you haven’t noticed by now, BTS is my favorite K-Pop group for many reasons. So, when they announced a month ago they are returning with a new album today, you better believe my CD was already on pre-order. They released the music video for their title track “Fake Love” today, and it was amazing to say the least. They’re one of the very few groups that actually release music they have written with a bigger message and meaning behind the lyrics. You can always expect a dramatic, in-your-face music video, and “Fake Love” definitely delivered. Not gonna lie…I had to take a minute to collect my thoughts at the end. Yes, I’m dramatic, but no shame.

The rest of the album is equally amazing. I haven’t had a chance to listen to every song fully but so far my favorites are “Magic Shop”, “The Truth Untold” feat. Steve Aoki, and “Outro: Tear”. All of these are very different songs musically, but all so so good. “Magic Shop” is more of a EDM dance song, “The Truth Untold” is a slower, emotional song, and “Outro: Tear” is BTS’s signature hard-hitting rap track. Check them out this Sunday on the Billboard Music Awards where they’re nominated for “Top Social Artist” once again (and they’ll win too…again) and will even be performing their new single.

Feature 2:  Skin Care & Make Up – May Sephora PLAY! Box

I was late to the whole subscription box thing. I recently signed up for my very first subscription service and after debating between Birchbox, Ipsy, and Sephora, I decided to choose the Sephora PLAY! Box. The May box is my second box I’ve received and I’m super excited about this one. It’s filled with a few things I’ve been really wanting to try! Each person’s box is a little bit different depending on the preferences you set when signing up. I compared mine to a friend’s, and we only got 1 common item (honestly I wish I did get a couple of the ones she got though). Each month you receive: a collectible make-up bag, five deluxe make-up/skincare/hair samples, one bonus item, and some in-store perks. If you want to know more about the perks, you can click HERE.

So for May, I received:

Feature 3: Healthy Protein Powder – Collagen Bone Broth

I generally try to eat pretty healthy, especially during the week (weekends can get a little cray though). So, I typically don’t eat much meat on week days, and when I do, it’s usually lean protein like chicken and seafood. While I also work out and do a decent amount of strength training, I find it difficult to get in a sufficient amount of protein. The protein powder market is very expansive with many different types and brands. The most common is whey protein which is dairy based. There’s also vegan protein which is usually pea protein based. I’ve used both of these types before and while I love whey protein, I have to use it sparingly because too much dairy products causes skin breakouts for me. And, the vegan protein….honestly it doesn’t taste good at all (at least the brands I’ve tried).

So, I’ve been doing some research and found bone broth based protein powder by Left Coast Performance. I also noticed Dr. Axe has a very popular brand but it’s a little on the high-end, money wise. Bone Broth contains a great deal of collagen which helps with your gut and immune system, joints, and hair/skin/nail health. The Left Coast Performance brand is dairy-free, grain-free, and gluten-free (for those that are gluten-free) and comes in Chocolate and Vanilla flavors. I’m ordering the chocolate version today, so I’ll make an update post with my review!

Feature 4: Easy to Make Recipe – Creamy Chorizo Queso Dip by Damn Delicious

It has probably been well over a month since I’ve had Mexican food (I know…how have I lived?!). And, with not being in the US during Cinco de Mayo, I’ve been craving nothing but tacos and queso. So, leave it to Chungah at Damn Delicious to provide an easy and amazing looking queso dip. It has garlic, chorizo, cilantro, poblano peppers, jalapenos, and 2 different cheeses, so what’s not to love about this?! If I don’t end up making it this weekend, it’s going to make a great appetizer for Memorial Day next weekend!
