Friday Features Week 7 – Finally A Hogwarts Student!
April 27, 2018
This will most likely be the last Friday Features post for a 2 or 3 weeks since I will be traveling to South Korea next week, but be sure to follow me on Instagram to keep up with my travels and all the yummy food! Anyways, here are my top four features this week:
Feature 1: Must Download App – “Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery”
Dreams really do come true y’all ! To put it simply, I’m obsessed with anything Harry Potter. And after quite a while of rumors and teasers, there has finally been a phone app released called “Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery”. It was just released on Wednesday, the 25th, and available for Android and iOS. Basically, you start out as a character receiving your letter from Hogwarts, go to Ollivander’s at Diagon Alley, get sorted into a house, and then you go through daily life at Hogwarts. Your best friend in the game is a character named Rowan, and of course there’s a trouble-maker Slytherin named Merula. You get to go through Potions class, Transfiguration, Charms, etc. To make the game even better, they recruited the original actors to voice the characters (Maggie Smith as McGonagall, Warwick Davis as Professor Flitwick, and even Michael Gambon as Dumbledore). I highly recommend giving the game a try, especially since you can download it for free right from your app store!
Feature 2: Affordable Home Line – Trisha Yearwood’s Collection at Kirkland’s
So as I’m sure I’ve mentioned before, I love cute and affordable home decor. While my go-to store is Home Goods and At Home, I occasionally find myself browsing Kirkland’s as well. About a week ago, Kirkland’s released their collaboration line with Trisha Yearwood. And, oh my goodness I’m in love with so many of the pieces. They go so well with my aesthetic (I mean that’s what’s important, right??), I’m sure I’ll end up buying a thing or two (maybe three…or four ). Some of my favorites are:
Feature 3: Book To Movie – “Crazy Rich Asians” Movie Trailer
Starring Constance Wu from “Fresh Off The Boat”, her character, Rachel Chu travels to Singapore with her boyfriend, Nick Young. What she doesn’t realize is that she will be spending her time with some of the most elite and rich families/socialites in the country. The movie is based on the 2013 book of the same name written by author Kevin Kwan.
While I haven’t read the book yet (I’m planning to on my 15 hour plane ride next week ), based on the trailer and casting, this movie is going to be very popular. Constance Wu is absolutely hilarious and a very talented actress, so I’m really excited she’s getting more recognition. Other notable cast members include Ken Jeong, Awkwafina, and Michelle Yeoh, while, Jon M. Chu (well-known for his work with the “Step Up” franchise) is directing. Check out the trailer below!
A couple of weeks ago, I was in Daily’s convenience store (basically a Wawa) and came across SmartCakes Muffins. I try to eat low-carb during the week, so when I saw these I had to try them. They’re only 76 calories per pack (2 muffins), 18g carbs (10g fiber, 0g sugar), and 8g of protein! And, they come in 4 flavors: Coconut, Tangerine, Cinnamon, and Chocolate. I’ve tried all of them, and my favorites are cinnamon and coconut. I was shocked by how good they actually taste…somewhat like a less dense sponge cake. These make for a great snack throughout the day! The company, Smart Baking Company, also makes burger buns as well, but I haven’t found those in stores yet. However, you can order their products from their website HERE.
