[Beauty Review] Boscia Luminizing Black Charcoal Mask
April 24, 2018
Boscia is a skin-care brand known for their preservative-free products utilizing ingredients such as jojoba leaf and willow-herb that are perfect for those with sensitive skin. One of their most popular products is the Luminizing Black Charcoal Mask. I have never used a peel-off charcoal mask before, but thanks to Influenster, they were kind enough to send me Boscia’s Luminizing Black Charcoal Mask VoxBox complimentary.
Details and Review:
Item Claims: Draw out the impurities and oil, refine and reduce the appearance of pores, brighten skin tone, hydrate, and improve fine lines and skin elasticity.
Directions: After cleansing, apply a thick, opaque layer avoiding hairline and sensitive eye area. Allow to dry/leave on for 25 minutes, then peel off the mask, and rinse with luke warm water.
Opinion: As you can probably tell from my rating, the Luminizing Black Charcoal Mask was just average for me. I had things I liked and disliked about it. First, the things I did like. After removing the mask, my face felt very refreshed and it left my skin feeling soft and smooth. This charcoal mask is just fun to use too, especially with friends. Did anyone else enjoy those days in Kindergarten when you got to do arts & crafts and got to peel off all the Elmer’s Glue that got stuck on your hands?? This mask is basically like that. It’s super satisfying just to peel the mask off and feel those impurities getting drawn out. Now for the things that I wasn’t as crazy about. First, it’s a pretty thick/goop-y consistency mask. So, it was somewhat difficult to apply a thick, even layer (and a little more time-consuming than other masks). I also didn’t notice any real difference in the appearance of fine lines or brightened skin tone. Also, be sure to listen when they say to avoid the sensitive skin around the eye area….it can be a tad painful when peeling the mask off if you don’t. Overall, this product was a fun one to try out and while it delivers on some aspects, I wouldn’t pay $34 for the mask.
